Thanks for joining us on the Totally Bound blog, Cara!
Thanks for having me!
Please tell us a little about yourself...
I’m a thirty-something fiancée and mother of 3 very energetic and loving kids. My daughter is 7, and I have identical twin boys who are 6. My fiancé and I have been together for over 10 years, and he is my biggest support system and the best father I know. I live in the hot and humid tourist area known as the happiest place on earth. Better known to some as Disney World in central Florida. Living by the mouse definitely has its perks. I love meeting people from all over the world; it’s fascinating to find out more about people from all different backgrounds. I’m originally from Wisconsin, which is incredibly cold and, at least the area I was in, not much to do, so I think having something completely different than that is amazing.
I’m busy with my kids, working as a bartender, and being in nursing school, so when I get some time to myself, I am a bit of a homebody. I love scrapbooking, watching movies, cuddling on the couch with my family, and of course reading.
What are your three top Totally Bound genres?
1) Bondage/BDSM - I love the trust and honesty that comes with these books.
2) Ménage-a-Trois/ multiple partners - These are awesome because of how unashamed these characters are to just be themselves, even if it is not what is generally acceptable in society. Not to mention, it’s just plain hot!
3) Contemporary and Comedy/Humour are tied for third. As far out there as some stories are, I still like the feel of a contemporary setting that may be realistic to someone. As far as humour, if a book can make me laugh and make my panties wet, I will love it forever. Ménage à Trois / Multiple PartnersMénage à Trois / Multiple Partners
What is it about reading and the Erotic Romance genre in particular that you love so much?
Like most people in this day and age, I’m crazy busy. I don’t have a lot of time to myself, and I’m usually pretty stressed by about 8am. Having the chance to read to escape from that is a lifesaver, it can transport me to a different world, and in the case of erotic romance, to a world that’s fun to dream and fantasize about without having to put in the time or energy it would actually require of me.
If you could be a character from a Totally Bound book for one day, who would it be and why?
Ooh, so many choices! Can I say a mix of them? I would love to be Jo Carpenter from Now You See Me by Pamela Todd, because after all that she’s gone through, she’s still strong, smart, and funny, not to mention she gets Nate! I would also love to be Eugenie from La Brat by Ashe Barker, sassy, knows what she wants, and isn’t afraid to do something like attack her dom. Hehe.
Who is your favourite hot Totally Bound hero and why?
I’m a huge fan of Sierra Cartwright’s men, any of them, but Grant from Command is probably my favourite. Super intelligent, a bit nerdy, hot, thoughtful, and completely dominant. I can’t think of anything better.
Please can you tell us about what it’s like to be a part of the Totally Bound Street Team?
It’s incredible! Getting the chance to choose which books I want to read is fantastic. I know that the books I’m being offered the chance to read, review, and promote are all wonderfully written, spicy, and they will be right up my alley. I love being a part of something that will allow someone out there to see these awesome authors, and great stories and they take a chance on new books.
Being on the Totally Bound Street Team has allowed me to try new genres, and step out of my comfort zone a bit. I get so excited when I see the email with new options; I know that my next great escape waits.
How often do you find the time to read?
It depends; I always try to read before going to bed, even if it’s just for 5 minutes before I pass out with the book falling on my face. Other than that, I hate being late for anything, which means I’m usually very early. I always bring along a book or my e-reader in my purse for these occasions. If I don’t have exams in the foreseeable future, I can usually get a few hours every day between dropping off and picking up the kids, helping with homework and putting them to bed. Luckily, I’m a fast reader and am able to read about 4 books a week with those times.
What is your top tip for writing a good review?
I don’t know if there is a top tip, I just make sure I write my own opinion in the review. While my opinion is always there, I also make sure to remember that I am writing this in hopes that someone else will pick up the book. That means that even if this book wasn’t my personal cup of tea, it may work for someone else, in other words, be honest but kind! I also attempt to spell check, because when I read a review, I find it annoying if there are many, many mistakes. That’s just one of my quirks, but it makes the review look more polished.
Thanks Cara!
